NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN (NPhM) was founded in the year 2005 and has since then developed into a very respected semiprofessional orchestra in the Munich region. The promotion of young musicians by experienced soloists and experts is part of the concept of Musikwerkstatt Jugend e.V. (sponsoring association), and led to the Tassilo-Culture-Price awarded by “Süddeutsche Zeitung” in 2006.

During the last decade, the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN developed into an international orchestra with music students especially from all over Europe and other countries in the world. With this approach, students from different nations and with diverse cultural backgrounds not only meet to perform great music, but also share their musical experiences and make friends across borders.

The orchestra regularly performs in the “Herkulessaal der Münchner Residenz”, in the “Stadthalle Kassel” and in numerous guest concerts nationally and internationally. In March 2020, the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN celebrated its 15th anniversary with a big special concert.

At the turn of the year 2015/2016 the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN, conducted by the chief conductor Fuad Ibrahimov from Azerbaijan, was invited to China for a second time. After concerts in Shanghai and Beijing (September 2014) the orchestra performed successfully in Hongkong and surroundings. Fall 2017 it traveled to Baku and had wonderful concerts in its Philharmonic Hall.

In the summer seasons 2015, 2016 and 2017 the NPhM delivered a celebrated performance as Festival Orchestra under the direction of the Latvian General Music Director of the “Komische Oper Berlin” Ainars Rubikis in sold out performances in the “Passionstheater Oberammergau”. Christian Stückl directed the Verdi Opera NABUCCO and the Wagner opera FLYING DUTCHMAN.

In the spring concert 2017 the orchestra was conducted by Oksana Lyniv (Ukraine), who until 2020 was Chief Conductor at the Opera Graz and in the year 2021 became the first female conductor performing a premiere at the “Bayreuther Festspiele”.

Under the direction of the Israeli-American conductor Yoel Gamzou, since 2017 General Music Director at the theatre Bremen, NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN performed several times successfully in Munich and Kassel. In Fall 2019 the orchestra went on tour in Italy and Austria, conducted by Kiril Stankow (Kapellmeister at “Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz” in Munich), followed by concerts in Munich, Wolfratshausen und Fürstenfeldbruck.

In March 2020 the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN impressed in several anniversary concerts, conducted by Fuad Ibrahimov performing a very special program. Beside the “Festliche Ouvertüre” (Schostakovich) the wonderful young pianist Kristina Miller played the Tschaikovsky piano concert Nr.1. As a special wish from the members of the orchestra, a stunning, youthful, and vivid interpretation of “Sacre de Printemps” (Strawinsky) was presented.

In Fall 2020 the young conductor Johannes Zahn from Munich presented a very  impressive Beethoven-Anniversary-Program under difficult Covid-19-conditions.

NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN is supported and taught by members of the Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra and experienced University Professors.
