Lionel WARTELLE was born into a family of professional musicians. Student with Michel ARRIGNON and Philippe CUPER, winner of the international chamber music competition of Martigny in Switzerland, he won the highest awards of the city of Paris and the National Conservatory of Douai in France, he learned also singing and conducting.
Invested and appreciate musician, Lionel WARTELLE dedicated with enthousiasm and passion to chamber music. His catalog of works played in concert is extremely dense and composed of major pieces; Mozart quintett, Brahms trio and quintett, Messiaen Quatuor of the end of time… Lionel WARTELLE is also interested in cabaret music and improvisation to offer to the public all the possibilities of thecolors of the clarinet or also of the voice.
Lionel WARTELLE is actually director of the Conservatory of music, dance and theater of Dreux in France. He is also principal clarinet of the International Mahler Orchestra, conductor Yoël GAMZOU and member of Ensemble Images.
